Cat. #00144321: FARLEY GRANGER

Nice 8x10-inch black and white portrait in his prime, boldly signed in blue felt-tip marker in the his later years. In good condition. At the onset of his Hollywood career, handsome Farley Granger was typically cast as troubled, soulful young heroes, as in The North Star (1943) and The Purple Heart (1948). He went on to appear in two classic Alfred Hitchcock films, Rope in 1948 and Strangers on a Train in 1951, as well as the Danny Kaye musical Hand Christian Andersen (1952). Critics foretold that the handsome leading man was destined for stardom, but his career was mismanaged and impeded by his openly bisexual lifestyle. He ultimately left the States for Italy, where he made ends meet by appearing in forgettable horror flicks, including Something Is Crawling in the Dark (1971), So Sweet, So Dead (1972), Arnold (1973), and The Prowler (1981).
